Sophia Delap

Biography

My name is Sophia and I grew up in San Diego, California where the mountains, the bay, the city, and the beachtowns were just a bike ride away. Moving up to Santa Barbara felt like the ocean and the mountains came along with me, and I'm so happy that I can still enjoy many of my hobbies at UCSB. You'll probably catch me on the waves at Devs, practicing my longboard dancing in Isla Vista, or hitting the hiking trails at greater altitudes. I major in environmental studies because I have an enormous passion for ocean conservation and environmentalism. My goal for the future is tentative, spanning anywhere from ocean conservation research to filming documentaries for National Geographic! For now, I am eager to get my hands in the dirt and learn more about what I can do with research through the exciting networking opportunities and field trips with the FUERTE program.
